• Condor H2O Pouch (Acu, 10 x 4Dia-Inch) will fit the bottle with it's standard cap in the main compartment... barely. However, it won't close if you hook up a hydration adapter for it, or even a camp cup around the bottom like you can with the 32oz bottle. If you just want something to carry a full bottle from point A to B, with accessories in the front pouch but not attached to the bottle, then this will work.
• Yeah this 48oz fits in the Maxpedition 12x5 bottle holder. I know this answer is almost a year later, but hopefully it will help other customers. The 48oz is to tall for most pouches. The Maxpedition 12x5 is obviously 12' tall and 5" in diameter. You can even get man sized hands into it in case you drop something in. QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE GREAT FOR SMOOTHIES?
• Personally I believe it wouldn't be great for smoothies. It is simply too large. You would have to have a full blender of smoothie to fill it and once you go near the bottom the smoothie would spread along the side and be tough to shake out. Plus the mouth is so large when you DID attempt to shake it out, itll be a mess. But other wise it is a great, durable, capable water bottle!
• My gut response is no - It's quite tall and cleaning is tricky. Also, 48oz is a LOT of smoothie! :)
• 48 ounce nalgene water bottle can hold anything cold and hot drinks. It Depends on the consistency of your smoothies. If too thick and you're only putting 18 or 20 ounces or even less I wouldn't recommend bottle is too big, and you'll have to scoop the contents out, will take too long for thick smoothie to slide down 48 ounce bottle. If you're using it for smoothies, I would try something much smaller.
• It really depends. A normal sized Nalgene wound be plenty big enough for a smoothie for me. This bottle would hold a lot of smoothie! You might lose the straw in there!

• Yes. The bottle you tried to open must have been really stuck. I own at least 6 nalgene and have never had problems opening them or with stuck lids. If you visit the nalgene website, they have different lids that will fit on their wide mouth bottles (any size) if you prefer to have a different lid style.

• Yes it is the only way to drink from it.
• Yes. The wide mouth is designed so that you can put ice in it more easily, I believe; and it works great for that. However, you do have to unscrew the whole lid, and it can leak a bit. I like to use a splash guard with it. That way you can grab a drink without opening and closing it all the time. And the lid will close over the splash guard if you're going to be carrying it around.

QUESTION: I HAVE THE 64OZ VERSION. I CANT GET THE SMELL OUT... I TRIED DISH SOAP + A BRUSH... AFTER A DAY THE WATER STARTS SMELLING FUNKY! ANYONE KNOW A TRICK?
• It sounds like it's your water. I routinely leave unfinished (filtered) tap water in my 48oz Nalgene bottle for days without opening (basically it sits there until the next time I use it). Sometimes I wash it out after this happens, but only for hygiene and never because it smells. Sometimes there will be a chlorine smell when first opening, but if you just blow in the bottle to let the air circulate out of it, the smell goes away. Basically it was just the chlorine that leached out of solution from sitting for a while. Anyway, you can run it through the dishwasher, that may help. But I'd suggest a simple test using bottle water and see if the smell still persists after a day. One other thing you can try is PBW (Professional Brewer's Wash). It's made for homebrewers but works marvelously with getting odors out of plastics.

QUESTION: DOES THIS BOTTLE HOLD HOT DRINKS?
• It could, but because the bottle has no insulation any hot drink would probably cool off very quickly.
• I have put hot water in it before and honestly, it makes me nervous so I would say don't put hot drinks in it.
• In the winter months I drink hot water and not cold. I still use my Nalgene for that, even though it doesn't keep the water hot, it's still warm when I drink it. I cannot drink cold water when I am cold.
• you can put hot drinks in the bottle, but if you will be using it primarily for hot drinks I would recommend something else because the bottle won't keep your hand from burning. I sometimes put coffee in it when I'm camping for example and thats fine

• Yes, but two things: 1) Don't fill it all the way (maybe 3/4 full) and 2) leave the lid off. Both of these give the water room to expand as it freezes so that it doesn't crack the plastic.
