QUESTION: IS THIS AS GOOD AS THE LEATHERMAN WAVE IN QUALITY? I'M GOING TO BE USING THIS AS AN EVERYDAY TOOL
• I don't know anything about the Wave, but we bought this for my brother and he uses it all the time. When he first unwrapped it, he said that it's "one of the good ones, top of the line". He was also thrilled with the holder we bought to go with it. Hope this helps!
• It's a good strong tool, I carry it and use it when I don't feel like going to my truck to get a tool
• I believe it's better than the wave.
• Hello Zach, The Wave is definitely the better tool. The wingman isn't a bad tool, it just isn't up to the level of the wave both in terms of tool load out and in terms of overall build quality. The advantage of the wingman is it's compact size and reduced weight over the wave. But if you're looking for a hardy tool that won't let you down then you might want to look beyond the wingman to something like the wave, or even at something like the Victorinox spirit which is one of the best multitools I have ever used, (the spirit is my person favorite multitool and I'm one of those weird people who has literally tried everything out there.) Plus the spirit is lighter, slimmer, and has a better tool load out. The only down side of the spirit is the price, but it's only slightly more expensive than the wave and frankly, what's another $20 or $30 dollars when you're looking to buy something that you will literally be using every single day, right? • yes I feel that this is as good as the wave if not better since I don't carry my wave of anymore I only use this knife at work
• Yes. The Wingman is a very popular and well crafted tool.
• I would say that this is on par with the leatherman wave in quality. I have used it as an everyday tool and have had no issues with it.

QUESTION: DOES THIS COME WITH SOME KIND OF SHEATH?
• No, it doesn't come with a sheath, but there are several options to purchase for it.
• You will have to order one.
• No, it does not. This is simply the Leatherman in a box.
• No, but it does have a belt/pocket clip.
• Mine did not come with a sheath. The belt clip is very sturdy though.
• No it doesn't
• No, sheath is sold separately. Just the leatherman with a "pocket clip"

QUESTION: IT SHOWS THAT IT HAS SCISSORS, BUT THE DESCRIPTION SAYS IT DOESN'T; IS THE DESCRIPTION WRONG OR IS THAT A PICTURE OF A DISCONTINUED FEATURE?
• The wingman DOES have scissors. They also work automatically, you have to open the scissor tool the whole way until it physically "clicks" in and then the spring pops up allowing for regular scissor usage rather than opening and closing it yourself.
• It has scissors and they work nice for all kinds of small stuff great for fishing that what I use mine for
• The Leatherman "Wingman" does have scissors. I'v got em right here in front of me. Dainty little things, but useful in a pinch- if you want to cut string, paper (coupons) or maybe the plastic from around the packaging that this product comes in. The description is therefore incorrect.
• The Wingman has scissors the Sidekick does not. That is a picture of a Wingman.
• Yes it does have scissors in it. These ones do have a spring in them.
• Yes. it does...I disagree with the last post though that says that they have no spring. They do but you have to make sure that the scissors are completely open so that the spring actually engages.
• The wingman has a decent pair of scissors. They are located in the opposite handle of the knife blade. They lock in place and also serves as the spring opener.
• Yes, they have scissors. I have ordered three of them.
• Finally have answer. The person I gave this to informs me that it does have scissors. Hope that helps with your decision.
• The particular one I bought did have scissors. (Don't know how they worked, because this was a gift and I didn't try them out.) Some models do not have scissors at all, so you must look over the list of features before you buy so you get what you need.

QUESTION: MADE IN CHINA?
• absolutleynot this is a well made american made and american gaurenteed exceptionally manufactured tool
• Not only no but hell no100% USA made. I have had 7 Leathermans the only thing that will hold up.
• I'm not really sure, it oozes quality though you can't go wrong with a leatherman.
• I'm not sure. I don't see any markings on the tool, and I no longer have the packaging.
• Not made in China.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: DOES THE WINGMAN HAVE SCISSORS OR NOT. THE PICTURE SHOWS SCISSORS, THE DESCRIPTION SAYS NO.
• Yes it has scissors they also have a spring mech
• The Wingman DOES have scissors and a regular/serrated combo knife blade. The Sidekick DOES NOT have scissors, but has a regular blade, a saw, and a serrated blade.
• mine had scizzors, they work pretty nicely, very sharp
• Hello, Yes the Leatherman Wingman does have scissors.
• Yes it does have scissors.
• It does although they are not the best, but they get the job done in a pinch!
• Yes it does
• Yes it does
• yes it does... they work quite well... i have used them a few times and have had no problems
• Yes it does have a little pair of simple sissors. Not spring loaded, not a nice as on my Mica, but certainly functional. I've carried and used my leatherman now for a couple of months and it sure is handy. Opening the knife doesn't require opening the tool up and the knife locks, Nice. What a value!
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: CAN PLIER BE USEFUL TO LOOSEN THE SMALL NUTS
• Sure, i have tried it. Would be suitable for nuts/bolts upto M6 size.
• Yes, I would say so. Depends on how tight they are and how strong you are. I'm disabled and don't have much hand strength but it does give plenty of advantage and leverage. They're good pliers.
• Yes, depending on how small the nuts are to which you are referring. The pliers have good grip strength.
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: CAN YOU CHANGE THE BLADE TO A SERATED BLADE OR A STRAIGHT ONE
• No,it's only a straight blade in this tool.
• The blade is straight near the tip, and about half of the blade is serated near the hinged end.
• No the standard blade is the straight edge. I have never seen a serated edge.
• so sorry, for the delay, hope this helps the next one the blade is partly serrated, and SUPER sharp, great combo, unless u need it for a particular use, i do not see why u would need to change it, but it has hex screws (do not not the size) so presumably, u can change anything u want foot note: RUST ! i bought this as my edc multitool, home-car, car-home, it has never been exposed to rain or anything and it is starting to rust , at wire cutters, the pivot point of the pliers, and the plier part to the body i am a big believer in writing any review/comment on price, and for the price they were great, but if they pliers fail (rust) then i am not sure how useful the multi is.....

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE A POCKET CLIP?
• Yes it does. I don't use the clip, but it looks very sturdy and easy to use.
• Yes it does...
• Yes it has a removable pocket clip.
• Yes it does and it holds well. I just wish the lower lip of the clip did not protrude so much.
• Yes it does, it's about 2 inches long.
• Yes, it has clip for pockets. Didn't know it when bought so even more pleased.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: WHAT SHEATH FITS
• I bought the Leatherman 934810 Leatherman Wave Nylon Sheath, http://amazon.com, and it works great. In the sheath I use my mini marker sharpie, my lighter and my Maglite flashlight.
• For the Wingman, this one: Leatherman Rebar Sheath - Black Leather ie-The Leatherman Rebar Sheath in black leather, for about $9 at the time I wrote this, fits it just fine.
• I'm unsure which sheath would fit this as I've always used the pocket clip to secure it in my pocket or to my belt. I doubt the standard issue sheath would work since the clip sticks out about 1/8" from the side of the tool. Niteize and redhead make good after market sheaths.
• I don't know as I didn't buy one. Sorry about that. Might watch this cause it would be a good idea later on to get one.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE PLAY BETWEEN THE 2 HALF OF THE MULTITOOL IN THE CLOSED POSITION AND IF NOT IS THERE A WAY TO FIX IT?
• You can tighten the screws with a torx screwdriver
• When closed, yes, a little is normal. I'm on my third (bought yesterday) and even as new it has a little. If there is a lot of play, I'd wonder if it was sold used. Did it come in a box, or proper packaging?
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: DO THE TOOLS LOCK INTO PLACE?
• The knife and scissors both lock in place. The other tools have friction/spring locks (detents) - nothing needs to be released to close them, but they require a little force to close.
• Only the knife blade and the scissors lock. The interior tools don't lock although they stay firmly open when in use. It's a pretty sturdy build. Pretty surprised it's only around $20.
• Yes, knife and scissors have locks unlike other multi-tools.
• Somewhat, knife and scissors do with release, other tools snap lock but not with a release mechanism.
• yes perfectly. Quick tip: for the scissors to work properly they need to extended completely back. There is a lock in place for the spring action on the scissors to work. All tools lock perfectly!
• Almost, Knife and scissor lock, the other have a type of half-lock, is more hard to release the tool

#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: HOW WELL DO THE WIRE CUTTERS WORK?
• I ask my husband said they work good. This thing never leaves his side.
• Not the greatest. If you are going to use that feature a lot I would get something different.
• That depends on the wire you're cutting. General plastic coated wire isn't a problem. Bailing wire is a little more difficult. Fencing wire - forget it.
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: WHERE IS THE PRODUCTION?
• They finish the products in their factory in Portland, OR (where 10 people each Wednesday can participate in a tour). As of 2005-2008, some components were produced and/or processed in Western Europe (files, corkscrews, etc.), the plier jaws are cast in Mexico, and other part(s) in Canada. This information became public due to the facts disclosed in the Colgan v. Leatherman Tool Group lawsuit in California as well as the resulting PR from Leatherman.
• In product info here, it says China. I hope this is wrong!
• It is made in Portlnd, Oregon, USA according to the packaging....
• G'Day - as you are probably aware, all Leatherman multitools, to my knowledge, are manufactured in the States (USA). I hope that this answeres your question?
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: DO THE BLADES LOCK?
• Yes, with the liner lock.
• The knife and the scissors lock. The rest of the tools do not lock.
• Yes, and the scissors as well.
• Only the scissors and knife blade do... the tools that open when the unit is folded closed. They use a liner style lock
• The scissors and the knife lock. The liner lock mechanism works well.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WINGMEN SERIES? LEATHERMAN 831426 WINGMAN? LEATHERMAN 831425? OTHER?
• As per the customer service representative I spoke with at Leatherman, 831425 is in the blister pack. 831426 comes in the traditional black & yellow Leatherman box. They are the exact same tool, just different packaging.
• As far as I can tell its a cheaper point of entry tool designed to be sold at big box stores. It is made with a lower quality steel but is still a quality tool. It also does not come with a carrying case and only has a side clip for belt or pocket use. Other than that there are spring loaded pliers, scissors and a plastic clam shell opener tool that aren't available on the pricier counter parts. I've been impressed with it so far.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: DOES IT COME SHARP
• I would imagine like most "knives", it can vary but mine came pretty sharp. I did tune it up just a little but it didn't need much. Hope that helped
• I believe it comes laser sharpened. Upon feeling the blade it is incredibly sharp.
• well , "does a cat have climbing gear"
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: WOOD SAW
• The wingman doesn't have a wood saw. The Sidekick has a wood saw in place of the scissors.
• Wingman has no wood saw but it has scissor , as you will find wood saw in Sidekick similar product but without scissor. However I don't recommend those product because they aren't up to old Leatherman tools quality.
• No, this model doesn't have a wood saw. The Leatherman Sidekick does though for about 10 dollars more.
• Nope
• I have the Wave with the saw and have used it to cut a two inch branch. It worked great the wingman I gave as a gift and don't think it has a saw.
• This model (Wingman) does not have a wood saw. For that, look at the Leatherman Sidekick. It's just a few bucks more.
• No saw
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: IS THERE A WINGMAN MODEL THAT COMES WITH A PLAIN EDGE BLADE INSTEAD OF THE COMBO BLADE?
• Yes. The other version called sidekick is basically the same multitool as wingman but has a plain edge, and a saw instead of scissors.
• Sorry, I don't know the answer to your question. You can go to Leatherman's web page.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: LEATHERMAN WAVE - I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE PLIERS TO WORK. WHEN I OPEN THE TOOL UP TO THE PLIERS POSITION ONE ARMS OF THE DO NOT LOCK. PLEASE HELP
• It sounds like the particular tool that you have has been damaged. My question is has it always been like that since you opened it or did it just start acting like that? If it wasn't working correctly from the moment you opened the box then you may have to contact Amazon and Leathernman about the product and try to get another one. Also you might just need to tighten the bolt on the wingman. A star tip screwdriver should help with that.
• You may need to make a guarantee claim. To use the pliers you only need to open the tool up.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: WHERE IS THE LEATHERMAN 831426 WINGMAN MULTI-TOOL MADE IN? WHAT MATERIAL IS IT MADE OF? THANK YOU.
• American made, stainless steel. Not sure which formula though.
• It's made in The United States and made of stainless steel 420.
• I believe that it is mostly made in the u.s. and the steel type is 420HC.
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: DOES THIS PRODUCT COME WITH A REMOVABLE POCKET CLIP?
• No it doesn't, and to be quiet honest it's flimsy for a leatherman. I'd go with the Leatherman Wave.
• I don't believe it does sorry. I bought two, the Charge did have a clip but I don't think this one did. Not 100% on that though.
• It has a clip (about 3/4 inch long) which I use to clip it onto my belt. It probably would work on a side work pants or jeans pocket, but might rip a shirt. It doesn't appear to be removable. I gu
• It does not have a clip. We own another leatherman but thought thus was a quality made product.
• It does have a removable pocket clip. You'll need a Torx (star) driver to get it off though.
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: I HOPE THESE ARE STILL MADE IN USA??? IS THERE A CLEAR MADE IN USA MARKING ANYWHERE?
• Yes. Made in Oregon.
• It is not marked made in the USA. Leatherman is a US company based in Oregan. They take great pride in their craftsmanship of all their tools. Check out leatherman's website for more details.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: DOES THE SHEATH COME WITH IT AND WHAT IS THE WARRANTY THERE ISANT ANY DETAILED DESCRIPTION
• these knifes are warranteed for your life time. If you break the blade and send it in they will replace the blade with a new one. No sheath with this one because it has a pocket clip. I keep mine inside my front Levi pocket with just the clip exposed on the outside. It is handy and doesn't try to slip off the belt like a sheath would when I am sitting on the toilet. TMI? Great value, I highly recommend it.
• Wingman, no sheath, metal belt clip made into it. I think it is still 25 year warranty as with all Leatherman products.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: CLIP
• Yes
• There is a belt/pocket clip that is not obtrusive, but i do not use a clip for my use of the Wingman
• use the scissors to "clip"
• It came with a very good pocket clip, no sheath. I really like how easy it was to slip into my pocket and holds ok. Id rate the clip a 8/10
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: IS WINGMAN TSA FRIENDLY, THANKS?
• Not sure
• Ah, it's a knife dude. No.
• I wanna say that it depends on your country but I did a google search and amazon linked me to the mutlitools that are "tsa compliant". This model isn't on the list but it is extremely similar to the other tools there's virtually no difference. However knowing the TSA's reputation, chances are it will get confiscated. I cannot confirm this though
• Maybe if you break off the 2-1/2" knife blade and perhaps some of the other tools. Try wearing a turban and reciting the Koran in Arabic, then they may wave you on through.
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: KNIFE LENGTH?
• 2 1/2 inches
• About three inches or so. Locks in, very nice.
• The blade length is 2.5 inches long from handle to tip
• The blade itself is 2.5 inches, the handle is about 3.25 inches.
• The length of the blade on the wingman is roughly 3", with a partial serade.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: DOES A NYLON SHEATH COME IN THE PACKAGING?
• No. If you want a sheath, you have to buy one separately. I think the Leatherman New Wave sheath would probably fit pretty well.
• No.
• No.
• No, the Wingman came with a clip already to hold in your belt.
• no it´s not
• It does not.
• Mine did not come with one. I did not want one though, I wanted to use the pocket clip and no sheath. Works best in carpenter style pants down in that little skinny side pocket, but also clips in a standard front pocket well, slightly annoying getting your keys out around it but still worth the small inconvinience
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: NOT COMING FROM THE ACTUAL LEATHERMAN WEBSITE, WILL I STILL GET THE 25 YEAR WARRANTY?
• Yes .., I've had friends find one and send it in and they covered it
• Yes,
• I'm pretty sure you will - you could check with them if you're concerned
• Yes, warranty is valid
• Yes on Leatherman
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: WHICH LEATHERMAN SHEATH WILL FIT THIS TOOL?THANKS
• The Leatherman 934810 Leatherman Wave Nylon Sheath works perfectly.
• I own this exact multitool, I keep it in the Leatherman Wave Nylon sheath. It fits well. The sheath is here: Leatherman 934810 Leatherman Wave Nylon Sheath I recommend the Leatherman Wingman and also the sheath, they are both great and they fit well together. The nylon sheath is better than the leather sheath. I often give Wingmans as gifts, they are well received.
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: IS THIS LEATHERMAN MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL?
• I guess so.no signs of rust yet
• I have never had one that rusted.
• yes
• Yes it is, great tool for the price
• without running a metallurgy test it is stainless/// what grade,, who knows ?? gotta go to the manufacturer for that.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE GOOD AS A BOY'S FIRST KNIFE?
• Might be a little "busy" for a first knife. The blade locking mechanism is solid and the quality is right on. If taken care of, he'll be able to give it to his son.
• The blade is very, very sharp so should be used with caution but that should apply with all blades to kids, it also locks so you would need to clearly show how the mechanism works but as an all round knife and tool it may be a bit large, maybe a leatherman squirt which has a lot smaller blade may be ideal for small hand's. I hope this helps
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE WINGMAN MODELL 831425 AND MODEL 831426?
• It just has to do with the packaging. One is in a blister pack, the other in a box. There is no difference in the tool itself.
• It's has more and better tools. It's also is corrosion resistance.
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: IS THIS WINGMAN MADE IN CHINA?
• Leatherman is a brand of multitools and knives made by Leatherman Tool Group of Portland, Oregon, US. The company was founded in July 1983 by Timothy S. Leatherman and Steve Berliner in order to market his idea of a capable, easily portable hand tool with multiple functions.
• Is is not. They are made by leatherman in the USA.
• All of their multi-tools are manufactured in Portland, Oregon
• I dont know where it been made. But there will be a complex thing that I buied the wingman from my hometown abroad!
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A SHEATH
• No, it didn't come with one.
• No, & you can get one on Amazon.com.
• No. If memory serves, there were several options from an inexpensive nylon sheath to a leather sheath that cost more than the leatherman.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: ARE THE TOOLS ON THE 831426 FULL SIZE AS IT SAYS THEY ARE ON 830039
• They seem to be full size to me.
• Yes, same size, just not as many... Wingman pliers are spring-loaded. Does not use screwdriver bits.
• The picture gives you a good idea of scale. The overall length of the pliers is just above 6 inches, Philips screwdriver is about 2 inches from base to top, the flat head just above 1.5 inches. The scissors are 2 3/4 inches from base to top. With the length of the frame as handle, it makes these tools full sized in my opinion.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: WHAT'S THE SIZE OF THE LEATHERMAN?
• About four inches long, about three-eighths thick, one inch tall. Got a good clip, rounded edges for comfortable gripping.
• When folded it's 3.7 inches long, when fully deployed it's 6.2 inches.
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: CAN YOU ATTACH THIS TO YOUR KEYCHAIN?
• you could with a small lanyard, but it's a bit heavy for a key chain
• no
• You could attach it, but the key chain loop will get in the way of the tools requiring you to remove the key chain in order to your tools. You could also hook a key chain to the belt clip, to me seems a little heavy to put on a key chain. I just bought a pouch to keep mine in, it kept falling off when I used the belt clip.
• Probably could, but it would be way to heavy for me. I have mine in a pouch on my baelt
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: STUCK
• The blade & scissors have safety locks, released by pressing them... Adjacent to the hinge.
• That's correct as what Paul mentions. There are safety locks that you have to release to unlock to fold.
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: WHAT CAN THE WIRE CUTTERS CUT?
• I've used them on 20 gadge wire and it cuts great no problems at all
• I don't put much faith into these wire cutters. They worked fine for bailing wire or wire coat hangers. For fine wires like electrical lamp cord, then don't quite make a clean cut, leaving some stragglers. In the end, don't try to tackle anything larger than 1/16th-inch, but in a pinch, they are handy. I use this tool almost every day at work (truck driving) and have it on my belt at all times - even the weekends.
#Leatherman_-_Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: IS IT WATER PROOF?
• Yes
• Yes
• My leatherman has gotten wet a few times and you can notice alittle rust on the pliers. Still functions perfectly but I personally would keep it as dry as possible
#Leatherman_-

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE A POCKET OR BELT CLIP
• Yes it has a pocket clip
• Yes! It does indeed have a clip. One of the most redeeming qualities about this multitool in my opinion.
• Yes it has a pocket clip.
• Yes
• Yip, it certainly does have a belt clip.
• It does have a pocket clip, but it is not as sturdy as I would like it to be, I recently bent the pocket clip and ended up losing the tool. Unfortunately I feel naked when I don't have this tool on me so I purchased a new one to replace it as soon as I could.
#Wingman_Multi-Tool_Stainless

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE FOLDED LENGTH OF THE KNIFE?
• 3 7/8" long, 1 3/8" Wide; 3/4" thick at the widest part of the belt clip.
• I measure it as 3 7/8 inches.
• About 3.5-4 inches
#Leatherman_-_Review

QUESTION: DOES IT HAVE CORKSCREW? IF DON'T, SOMETHING TO OPEN WINE BOTTLES?
• No corkscrew. It's really basic for a leatherman
• No it doesn't
• No, this particular model does not have a corkscrew.
• It does not. If you are looking to remove corks, no.
• Unfortunately there isn't a corkscrew or any other "conventional" way to open a wine bottle with this model. I'm sure you could get creative with it and manage to open a bottle, but it wouldn't be preferable. Hope that helps you make a decision!

QUESTION: DOES THE BLADE ON THIS TOOL LOCK IN PLACE WHEN OPEN?
• Yes, the knife and scissors do lock into place when open. the smaller tools do not lock but do have a detent that holds them fairly securely in place.
• Yes. It locks. There is a little latch to unlock it. Scissors don't lock. Good replacement for lost Swiss Army knife.

QUESTION: DOES MAGNET ATTRACT THIS TOOL?
• Yes, the metal is ferro magnetic, meaning magnets stick to it. It is also electrically conductive.
• Yes, 400 series stainless steel does attract a magnet and some components that require hardening are made from "magnetic" stainless steel grades. The attraction to stainless steel is not as strong as with steel, so a very strong magnet is required to lift the tool, say in a water retrieval situation.
