QUESTION: IS THIS SUITABLE FOR A TODDLER? I HAVE A 19 MONTH OLD.
• They have to bite the mouthpiece to get the water out so it might be a little tricky - not sure though. We started using it just after two.
• No, 3yrs+
• Yes! This is what our 16 month drinks out of. He has been since 12 months!
• Yep, my son has been using it since he was 9 months! We have two of these. They are awesome!
• It's a tricky answer. Our 3-1/2 year old after using only a straw type product, had a difficult time with the "concept" that you have to slightly bite on the end, to create the hole for the juice to come through. I just think there are better straw type similar cups, that work great. We were disappointed in this product. She was getting frustrated with it. Yet other's seem to find it great!! It does leak by the way, at the top where the opening is, where you would "bite" to release the liquid.
• Our 15 month old loves them. Only issue is that the rubber bite valve can be pushed in and then it will leak if u don't notice it. so I guess it depends On how your child treats their belongings
• Absolutely. My ten month old can use it.
• I have a two year old granddaughter and she loves her's.
• I use them for my kids (3 1/2 and 1 1/2) and they love them. You may need something to go around the middle to help with the grip as they are very wide around. My little boy has no issue, but my friends 2 year old girl needs a little grip help. My little man chews on everything, so I also go spare spouts to change those out as he chews on them, which increases the slit a bit and makes them leak slightly.
• My son has used this since he was about 15 months old - he figured out how to drink out of it easy enough but the biggest problem with giving it to younger kids is they seem to have a tendency to gnaw on the spout and it splits extremely easily, and they are not cheap to replace (pretty much everyone in our 2 and under playgroup uses these, very popular). The first time it happened I tried to take the spouts back to the store we bought it from thinking it was defective, but they said the splitting is common when given to young kids. My son is 2 now and doesn't chew on the spouts anymore and I haven't had to replace them in awhile. I would say at least 2 before giving it to them unless you don't mind replacing the spouts regularly.

QUESTION: ITS LEAK WHEN THE STAW VALVE IS OPEN?
• It does not leak because you need put pressure on the straw for anything to come out (it's a camelbak). However, pressure builds up inside, and it does spray when first opened (especially on an airplane).
• Depends if you child squeezes the straw to open the drinking part. There's a slit where the water comes out and I've found if my son bites it with his teeth OR pulls up on it to pull out the valve a bit, it will leak.
• no it does not leak at all. I highly recommend this cup, it's very durable.
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: IS THIS BOTTLE APPROPRIATE FOR A 2 YEAR OLD? THE DESCRIPTION SAYS NOT FOR UNDER 3 BUT I SEE SOMEONE SAID THEY USE IT FOR THEIR 18 MO.
• My daughter has been using it since 12 months. It is a little heavy for her so I only fill it halfway. Her older brother has one so she has seen him use and wants to mimic. I think if your 2 year old is able to drink through a straw the cup would likely work. But of course, each kid is different! (My son didn't start using his till he was about 2 1/2)
• I bought this for my child when she was 2.5. It took her a couple tries to get it down, but she has no trouble with it. It's a bit more challenging than a standard straw sippy cup. It requires that you bite down and sip out of the straw simultaneously.
• I would say a 2 year old could use this no problem. My 2 year old tried this one, but it leaked. We prefer the Contigo brand of cups much better. My 2 year old loves the Contigo Striker water bottles and they DON'T leak!!
• I have a six year old. I don't feel it is appropriate for your child unless they can bite and suck at the same time. In order for them to get anything out of it, that's what it takes. I as the adult have a hard time with it but maybe for kids it might be easier.
• I gave my daughter her first one around age 1 and she has never, ever had a problem.
• My daughter has been using ours since 10 months so we are finally getting her one of her own!
• My 5 & 3 yr old use this daily for their water. We've been using it since they were about 3 & 1.5 yrs old. We love it!

QUESTION: THE BOTTLE WORKS GREAT UNTIL THE MOUTHPIECE GETS BUMPED, THEN IT LEAKS A LOT. IS THIS NORMAL?
• Sometimes that does, but the great part is that you can buy replacement mouth pieces - makes the bottle last forever!
• If you mean that it's getting bumped inside a bit, you just need to pull it back out to regular length so it will not leak. If you mean bumped by a child and then leaking out the spout, that is normal. I encourage my 3 and 5 year old (they have used these for 1.5 years) to close the spout when not drinking.
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: HOW DO YOU TAKE OUT THE STRAW PART FOR CLEANING?
• It's actually very simple and easy to do. You just pull down on it and then to get the blue mouth piece out you do the same, just pull down.
• Once you remove the lid, you just pull the straw directly out of the lid. The approximately 4" straight plastic straw is just held in place by a moulded rubber portion of the lid.
• The mouth piece and straw come apart and then you pull the mouth piece away from the lid. You can put all three pieces in the dishwasher.
• The bottle, bite valve, straw and lid can be cleaned in the top rack of the dishwasher or by hand with warm, soapy water. Pull off the bite valve and straw from the cap. If you like to use a bottle brush, we don't recommend forcing a brush through the Bite Valve slit. If you have the brush kit, run the small brush through the straw. For a deeper cleaning, add a drop of mild soap or tablespoon of bleach to a clean glass jar filled with water. Drop the bite valve, straw and cap into the solution, and tightly close the jar's lid. Shake the mixture around for 30 seconds, and then let the parts soak for about 15 minutes. Rinse and shake dry.
• Super easy, just pull it out.
• The straw comes off very easily at the bottom and then the blue part they sip out of at the top basically has a little rubber tab you just pull down on and pull it out. It's very easy to disassemble, clean and put back in.

QUESTION: IS THE VALVE HARD OR SOFT?
• Soft
• The valve is Camelbak's signature soft "bite valve". In the Kid's version, the spout coming out continues down inside to the underneath of the cap, where the straw then attaches.
• The valve is just a slice in the nipple on top. It's relatively soft but takes a little getting used to by the kids. The two we have haven't spilled a drop yet thou and the kids like them a lot.
• Soft
• It's soft. And my child keeps pushing it through the hole...
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE THIS BOTTLE WITHOUT THE STRAW?
• The sealing mechanism will continue to work (both when it's flipped closed and the bite valve at the tip of the spout) so you won't cause flooding without the straw. However, the way the bottle is designed, you'll have trouble getting the very last of the fluid out of it without a straw inserted. In general though, I'd say the answer is yes, you can use it without a straw, though it won't be nearly as nice to drink from. (Note, I'm talking about the rigid, clear plastic, drop straw that extends from the silicone bite-valve/neck of the bottle to the bottom of the bottle, which is removable for easy cleaning. If you remove the silicone bite valve from the bottle, then it's just a bottle with a hole in it. It'll hold water until you turn it upside down. Duh :-) )
• No. You can leave the straw in and unscrew the top to drink but the straw makes it watertight.
• My older kids did when we lost one of the straws. It worked fine for us.
• I've taken out they straw and it turns into a sippy cup. You just have to tilt the cup up and it works :)
• No, it must have the straw but refillable straws and spouts are available. I bought mine either through Amazon or Target.
• Yes, we always ditch the inner straw
• No
• No. Straw is to allow the kid to bite and drink at the same time. Bottle that don't leak as well.
#Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: IS THERE A WAY TO CLIP TO BACK PACK?
• It can be affixed to a backpack by using a carabiner.
• The water bottle itself doesn't have a clip. But it has a hook, and you could easily attach it to a backpack with a caribiner.
• It can be affixed to a backpack by using a karabiner.
• No, there is not - sorry :(
• If the backpack had a clip yes you could...or if you bought a clip. Recently my spout on the cup got a hole in it...I do take it out and put in dishwasher...but my kiddo is sad.
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT THE CHILD VALVE COMPARED TO THE ADULT ONES?
• It's the same concept of the adult. Bite and suck to pull the liquid. As for the size, it's a little smaller and the valve is a little longer to make it easier to open.
• i actually have an adult one, and have no complain! The child oen is just flimsy! It started tearing part within a few weeks of buying it! My daugther was 7 at the time and had used other less expensive bottle with more durable valves. Once it started tearing apart, the water was leaking as you can imagine, so we couldnt bring it to school anymore
• I don't think there is a difference in the valve, it's the volume capacity that is different.
• It's softer than the adult one.
• On the adult ones the mouth piece attaches to the lid and the straw attaches to the lid. On the child ones the mouth piece goes through the lid and connects to the straw. You can push the mouth piece out the bottom of the lid to separate and wash them.
• I don't think anything is different...maybe it's a little bit smaller?
• childrens size is smaller and the mouth piece connects throught he bottom of the lid to provide better stability, harder to detach if your little one is like mine and to provide easier seperation for washing. i also think the childrens one is a little smaller and softer for a childs mouth.
#CamelBak_eddy_Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: HOW MANY OUNCES DOES THIS CUP HOLD?
• 14
• The answer is in the item's name and a quick math calculation. The bottle is ".4L" and we find that a liter is 33.814 fluid ounces. Therefore, 33.814 X 0.4 = 13.5256. or slightly more than 13-1/2 fluid ounces. I truly do not know how four other people could come up with 3 different answers -- all wrong (but Pen Name was closest to correct, and a "best answer" IMO)....
• 16 ounces
• 16 oz
• 12 oz
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: ARE THESE SPILL PROOF?
• No. My 3 year old boys just tip them over they leak.
• No and nowhere near spill proof. My 14 month old knocked it over multiple times and almost each time the water contained spilled out
• I have had over all great satisfaction with these. I have one for my four year old and a second one for my one year old. My one year olds started to leak a bit and when I looked at it she had chewed the opening of the spout. So I simply replaced it and it's back to working great. If your looking for something close to leak proof I'd check out the Nuk products. They have the valve that your child would have to suck like a straw and tip back like a cup.
• If the straw tip is in good condition it would be spill proof. As long as there is no pressure on the mouthpiece, it should not leak. My kids both gnaw on the tips so they get larger cracks & occasionally drip when tipped over. When the straw is in the closed position you should be able to prevent that also.
• Yes- they are spill proof :) Quality product - highly recommend !
• Spill resistant yes! Spill proof no! If (when) your kids chew on the valve, it will crack in time. I've gone through a few valves for each of my kids. These are great investments and the kids love them.

QUESTION: WOULD THIS FIT INTO A STANDARD CUP HOLDER ON TODDLER BOOSTER SEAT? I KNOW MY REGULAR SIZE CAMELBACK DOES NOT...ARE THESE THE SAME WIDTH AT THE BOTTOM
• My kids have the Graco my ride 65 car seats and this cup fits in those cup holders!
• They are smaller at the base and my son's fits into his Fisher Price high chair booster seat perfectly :)
• Yes it does
• These are more narrow than the adult ones. They fit in both of my kids convertible car seat cup holders.
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: MY 22 MONTH OLD BOYS LIKE TO THROW THEIR CUPS,WILL THIS WITHSTAND HITTING CEMENT?
• I really think they would survive. In the off chance they didnt, Camelbak offers a lifetime warranty on the cup. So you really can't lose!
• It should withstand it, but it will get scuffed.
• Yes, it is very sturdy and I actually accidentally dropped mine in the driveway where it proceeded to roll a good distance....except for scratch marks along the sides where is scraped on the driveway it is just fine! Nice thing is the Camelbak comes with a lifetime warranty for defects and I recently had the bite valve replaced free of charge because it started to leak.
• My toddler's bottles have withstood many falls on hard tile in the kitchen floors and hardwood floors. They have also been dropped on cement and from their strollers. They get a few grayish marks on the top rubber part sometimes, if dropped on black cement/gravel. But I have never had a camelback product crack or break from dropping. They are tough! Hope that helps.
• Whike my 4yo has dropped her cup many times and it's fallen out of strollers and backpacks on walks, ours haven't cracked or even chipped. Cant speak to it if it's intentionally throw down with force.
#CamelBak_eddy_Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: IS IT MADE IN THE USA?
• No . They are made in China.
• Bottom if bottle says Made in China.
• no, says China on bottom
• Made in China but well constructed product
• I do not have the packaging/paperwork that came with the two I have ordered, but it is lightly marked on the bottom of both "CHINA". Oh, wow, big surprise there. I did buy these for my Granddaughter and, so far, she loves them and I think they are easy to use and to clean.
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: BOTTLE I JUST PURCHASED LEAKS/SPILLS AND I HAVE CHECKED THE VALVE/STRAW AND THEY ARE INSERTED CORRECTLY, IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING THIS ISSUE?
• We have owned 8 of these type and the only time they leaked was when the underside was not aligned or when the rubber straw had a crack from kids biting it and needed to be replaced. Note, you can buy replacement valves etc on amazon.
• I'm not having a leak or spill issue, but I am unhappy with the product because of how difficult it is to clean the valve. My bottle will leak if left in the car - the water rises up the straw (I'm assuming with heat?) and spills out the top.
• Where is it leaking from? The only way my bottles will leak is if the child tries to push their index finger into the spout mouth piece and then the mouth piece and straw all fall into the container and is completely open.
• We just purchased ours a month ago for our recently turned one year old. Shes pretty rough with it and we've only had that problem once. I realized the rubber straw part was no pulled through all the way. Once I pulled it through correctly it stopped leaking and we haven't had that problem since.
#Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE AN OK BOTTLE FOR A 10 YEAR OLD?
• I think so.
• It's about 500 mL. So it just depends how much the child drinks. My son is 2 and the bottle will last him almost all day.
• I actually bought two for my boys who are 3 and 2 and they are perfect! For my 11-13 year old I went for the bigger ones.
• It would probably work fine. It might be a bit small for that age. The regular CamelBak Eddy bottle would probably be better
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: I DONT GET THIS BITE STRAW..HOW DOES IT WORK? HAVE TO BITE IT FIRST? HAVE TO CONTINUALLY BITE? IS IT DIFFICULT FOR KIDS?
• They have to apply a little pressure for the hole to open. After a few uses its much easier. It makes it so liquid doesn't leak out.
• The best way to explain it to an adult is that the straw is soft rubber and for the opening to work properly, it needs to be pinched open a bit. Otherwise, it's a bit like placing your fingertip over one end of a regular straw when it's in a glass and lifting it out. The liquid in the straw comes too because of the "surface tension" from the air. As for kids. They totally get it. Our son didn't have to learn anything. It just sort of worked for him.
• It does have to be lightly bit while using it. I have the adult version and my daughter figured out my own bottle around 7-8 months! So I got her a similar colored one and now this is thw only sippy cup she uses now! (She is 1 y.o.) I have 3 of them for her! It might take a little time to figure out, but after trying multiple other sippy cups, many of them have the "bite and suck" idea.
#CamelBak_eddy_Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: IF YOU BUY THIS AND THE "CAMELBAK KID'S EDDY KIDS BITE VALVE" DOES IT MAKE THE ENTIRE BOTTLE SPILL PROOF?
• It already has a bite valve on it. I don't know what an additional bite valve would do for you.
• I have not had an issue with spills or leaking unless my daughter pinches the straw and turns the cup upside down, which she's only done once! Otherwise it's been really effective!
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: CAN YOU USE WITHOUT THE STRAW?
• Yes, you can. You just have to tip it up. The rubber mouth piece has a slit and you have to bite it to open the slit and then suck to drink. It works the same with or without the straw. It just depends on whether or not you want to have to tip it up or just hold it.
• I'm pretty sure it has to be used with the straw.
• the straw is attached to the top, so the only other way it can be used is as a cup without the top attached.
• Yes, you can!
• I don't think so. The design requires the child to bite down on the mouthpiece and suck on it, making it spill-proof and similar to nursing. Without the straw, I'm not sure it would still be spill proof
• Yes. In fact, the straw does not reach all the way to the bottom and my son was getting frustrated that he couldn't get the last little but of milk from the cup. If you remove the straw, you can tilt it back and it'll work just fine.
• Yes. Actually, my son preferred it this way because it was sillier to drinking a bottle. Now he is 2 and can drink from a cup easily, he uses the straw most of the time.
#Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: HOW WIDE IS THIS WATER BOTTLE? I WANT ENSURE IT WILL FIT IN THE MESH POCKET ON THE SIDE OF MY SON'S BACKPACK.
• Not as wide as the adult Camelbak. It fits in the mesh pocket of my son's Skip Hop toddler backpack just fine.
• The circumference is 23.5 cm, 7 cm diameter. It fits in the skip-hop toddler backpacks. It's just taller than the mesh.
• Yep. ..it will fit
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: IS IT SAFE FOR AN 18 MONTHS OLD BABY? I HAVE ONE AND MY DAUGHTER LOVES TO DRINK,WATER FROM IT BUT NOT SURE IF IT'S SAFE FOR BABIES. ANY SUGGESTION?
• I would just be worried if she chewed on it that a piece of plastic could come off and cause a choking hazard. But you could check with your Dr. to be sure.
• I don't know why it wouldn't be safe...she'd have to try awfully hard to yank out the spout and swallow it. It's ultimately up to you.
• It is safe! But I'm not sure that 18 month old baby will be able to drink from this bottle..
• I imagine it would be fine since the rubber part is quite thick but, as always, just monitor your child to see if anything comes off or gets loose. I don't think it will, but if your child is aggressively chewing on it and trying to get it off, you never know. And it's also BPA-free.
• My daughter was about 20 months old when we got hers, and she did fine with it.
• My daughter has been drinking out of hers since she was about 13 months old. It's very very easy to drink out of and very hard to dismantle for a baby.
#CamelBak_eddy_Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: THIS SAYS IT IS A 4 LITER BOTTLE! I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT IS IT'S ACTUAL SIZE CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IT ACTUALLY HOLDS?
• It is 0.4 liters, not sure why they didn't put the zero on the description to make it super clear.
• It's around 0.5-0.7 L. I have one.
• what the descriptions says is .4L, as in 0.4 L. I saw it as soon as I clicked on the link.
• It is 0.4 liter
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: I PULLED THE STRAW OUT TO WASH IT BEFORE USING IT AND CANNOT GET THE STRAW TO GO BACK INTO PLACE? WHAT IS THE TRICK TO PUTTING THE STRAW BACK?
• I've never had that problem but different Camelbaks have different size straws, are you sure you are using the right one?
• The hard plastic straw can be pulled out and placed back in the silicone bite valve. To remove and wash the bite valve (where they drink out of) you have to pull it out through the bottom of the cap and then thread it back through (push hard) to get it back in. Don't pull it up past the notch or it will leak. Not very easy and not the best bottle. I threw all my kids Camlbaks out and use the Nalgene grip and gulp bottles- way easier and they don't leak.
• Never had that problem. For me it has worked to push valve in through bottom of lid then grab from top and pull until it sort of snaps. Do have to be sure it's oriented correctly front/back (the bump out part on the end of the valve goes toward the back/larger side of the lid). Then straw just pushes in bottom of valve. good luck.
#Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: WHAT SIZE IS THIS WATER BOTTLE?
• Without being too scientific, height wise it's about half the size of adult bottle. Filled up to the top it holds two cups of water.
• It holds 15-16 oz of liquid. It is almost 7 inches tall if I measure to the top of the handle.
• other ones the same size say .4 liters... so about 13.5 oz... little over a cup and a half of liquid
#CamelBak_eddy_Review

QUESTION: HOW DOES THE LITTLE ONES OPEN THESE TO DRINK FROM?
• My 3 year old does it fine after showing him a few times
• They have to bite it a little to open the slit. At the end of the soft mouthpiece there is a vertical slit.
• They have to learn how to flip it open and bite down to suck up through the straw. I've used these with two kids now and have had zero issues. My one year old has been drinking of one for 4/5 months now. My advice would be to order extra mouthpieces cause the tend to chew on them and break the.
• That thing that is sticking out on top, your child needs to push it down and the silicone straw/opening pops up. It's very easy to use. My 2 yr old figured it out in 2min, literary!
• Same way the rest of these do, the mouth piece flips up.
• When the spout is closed, there is a gray tab that sort of sticks up from the opposite side of the top from the handle. Children can use their thumbs (or any finger really) to push this tab down and open the spout.
#CamelBak_eddy_Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: IS IT OK TO POUR HOT WATER IN IT FOR USE?
• the straw system if used with hot water would most likely leak. It says on the packaging not for hot water or carbonated beverages.
• I don't see why not. I usually wash it by hand but it's dishwasher safe so if it's OK under extreme heat than a hot liquid is fine.
#CamelBak_eddy

QUESTION: THIS SAYS 3 AND UP. DO YOU SEE A REASON WHY A TODDLER SHOULDN'T USE IT? MY 16MO PREFERS A STRAW CUP.
• I see no reasons why a toddler can't use. My 19mths daughter is using it now. The only reason I can think of; 1. Flow of the water is faster compare to straw type. Young toddler might get choke easily. 2. No side handle only one hole to hook on 3. Not light when bottle is filled up
• I bought two of these for my twins that are 18 months old after they used my older childs (3yr old) cup. They did fine. I would say just watch closely when the child is teething as they might want to chew on the plastic part and overtime it can crack.
• No, I don't see any reason why a toddler shouldn't use this bottle if they are already using a straw!
• Hi, not really - except it does some weight, when it is filled, and it is a bit more difficult to move around for a small one. Anyway, to stay on the safe side, I suggest to follow the manuals/instructions. BR András
#Kids_.4L_Water

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE DIAMETER OF THE BASE (BOTTOM) OF THE BOTTLE? THANKS.
• 2.75 inches.
• 2 1/2"
• This may seem weird don't have a ruler my four fingers across maybe 3 -31/2 inches
• Did not measure before giving as a gift to grandson in Houston.
• Just under 3 inches. To be exact, 2 3/4 inches.

QUESTION: WOULD THIS WATER BOTTLE WORK WELL FOR AN 18 MONTH OLD?
• Yes! My kids have used Camelbak bottles for a long time and I love them because they don't spill and you can change the mouth thing and the sorbet
• Yes. My 11 month old loves his.
• Yes, I believe so. My daughter is 14 months and she figured out how to drink from these bottles. It's an appropriately sized bottle for her hands too. The packaging says 3years and up, but I think that is because the mouthpiece is removable. It only comes out for cleaning when you unscrew the cap and pull the mouthpiece out of the lid. As long as your child is supervised, this would be appropriate for and 18 month old. My daughter really loves it!
• Yes my daughter started about then w hers
• My son is 18 months and this is his favorite cup! It only took him a day to transition from a sippy cup that you have to tilt back to get liquid to this one that has to stay down to suck it up through the straw.

QUESTION: WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS? I NEED TO SEE IF IT WILL FIT IN HIS LUNCHBOX
• Approximately 2.75 inches in diameter and 7 inches tall. It fits in all our lunchboxes (Pottery Barn Kids, Stephen Joseph, etc).
• It is 7x3.
• It will definitely fit in a lunch box. It's about 6-7 inches tall.

• not sure about carseat but its too big for the cupholder in my car and in her trike. i've seen some metal ones with a similar mouthpiece (not sure of the brand) that are slimmer and would fit- i plan to look for these for my next purchase.

QUESTION: IS THIS COMPLETELY CLEANABLE?? LIKE CAN I GET A PIPE CLEANER IN THERE IN THE STRAW PART..TO MAKE SURE NO MOLD GROWS?
• We just use ours for water, dissassemble (take apart straw, mouth piece, and lid) and wash each night in dishwasher (or if on vacation fill bottle with soapy water and shake with both straw and sippy part inside) - have had one of ours almost 3 years and so far no trouble.
• Yes you can. It comes completely apart for cleaning, mouthpiece, straw and all.
• I purchased the Contigo Cleaning Brushes, Set of 3, for cleaning the water bottles. There are others that are cheaper but this set really does the job. I don't remember paying twenty dollars for them but I would do it again even at that price. There are actually four brushes, two on one piece. I recommend these as they get in all of the nooks and crannies. Hope this helps. My grand daughter loves her water bottle.

QUESTION: DOES THE STRAW NOT LOCK IN PLACE? MY SON TRIES TO DRINK FROM IT BUT IT JUST FALLS BACK INTO PLACE WHERE IT LOCKS CLOSED.
• The straw needs to be attached to the drinking mechanism in order for the bottle to work. Please remove the lid and ensure the straw is attached.
• Yes, you need to push it into the underside of the lid.
• Under the lid is a rubbery donut looking thing with a hole in the middle. Push the straw in there. In needs to go in 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Once you push it in, the rubber will hold it in place. Pull it back out when you wash it. If I can figure out how to add a picture, I'll add a couple for you. Edit: I added a couple pictures to my review. They should show up on the main page if/when Amazon deems my post unoffensive. Check back.
• Yes. ensure that the rubbery thingy is attached to the straw and push it back. You should be able to hear a click sound.

QUESTION: WHY IS THIS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR UNDER THE AGE OF 3? I WANTED TO GET ONE FO MY 16 MONTH OLD GRANDSON BECAUSE HE LOVES TO USE MY BRITA WATER BOTTLE.
• Possibly because it may be a little big for their hands? Or they may not be able to figure out the mouth piece? You have to bite and use the straw at the same time. My friends 2 year old son has used my daughters before though without a problem.
• The only thing I can think of is that the flip straw may be hard to open with smaller ones. My 2.5-year-old has been using these since she was 20 months or so.
• It could be because of the challenge of actually drinking out of the camel back, but my 14 month old loves it. The nipple seems to have been designed to prevent any choking hazard unlike adult camel backs.
• My 10 month old uses his sister's (she is 2) It is what he prefers to drink from.

QUESTION: I'M LOOKING FOR SOMETHING I CAN PUT INTO BED WITH MY 3 YEAR OLD. IS THIS LEAK PROOF? IF HE FORGETS TO CLOSE THE LID, WILL WATER SPILL OUT?
• I've found that it's pretty leak proof. The only possible problem is if he/she falls asleep pinching the straw. That could cause the liquid to seep out. I haven't had that problem with my niece, though. She's 3 years old also, and we love this water bottle for her.
• There is some amount of liquids that stays in the colored rubber drinking part at the top. Yes I still get a small amount of fluids that will leak out from that section if my 19 month old son just throws it down and runs.
• It shouldn't. Never had that problem with the one we have. But if he starts to chew on the blue part of the straw and damages it, it will start to leak.
• Yes, it is leak proof

QUESTION: I WOULD LOVE THIS BOTTLE FOR MY LITTLE DINOSAUR MAN. CAN I PUT A OTF LID ON THIS ONE? WE ARE OUT OF THE SIPPY AGE AND LIKE THE ADULT TOPS BETTER!
• I have several camelbak products and I have no trouble with mold. I do wash them at least once a week with soap, but any product with continuous moisture will grow mold. I love these bottle for my 18 month and 3 year old
• This is the same top that is on the adult camelbak bottles.... It is the same bottle just shorter. The kids bite piece is made of plastic that is softer than the Adult ones, but otherwise just the same
• I think you could.
• Not camelback contigo
• I say don't waste your money the spout on these rip real easy and there little round rubber piece grows mold inside the lid
• Camelback one are even worse with mold
