QUESTION: DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE "NORMAL" EFFECTIVE PERCENTAGE OF DEET IS THAT MOST PEOPLE USE? I SAW A 98.11% AND 100% BOTTLE. IS 40% EFFECTIVE ENOUGH?
• According to what I have read (numerous sources), anything above 50% is superfluous. Being a "bug magnet" myself, I look for 50% but feel comfortable with 40% if that is all I can get.
• I researched this question before purchasing this product, as well. According to an FDA study, deet actually does not get any more effective beyond about 20-30% concentration. Higher concentrations extend the length of time the repellant is effective, but for me this 40% concentration was effective for between 2 and 4 hours depending on how much we sweated (which was heavily). Deet repellant effectiveness ultimately depends on proper reapplication, because even the really high concentrations intended to last 8-10 hours can wear off of your skin well before that, especially if you get wet. On a side note, I do highly recommend this product for its effectiveness. During a mid-summer visit to Mexico, everyone around us was getting bit over and over and only our spray worked well enough to keep the mosquitoes off completely. We reapplied about every 2 hours because we stayed soaked due to humidity.
• I used this stuff recently in Ecuador and now in Florida where I live on a regular basis. It is very effective.
• I suspect it all depends how bad the bugs/insects are out. I used this 40% DEET on the Inca Trail in Peru in August 2015, when there was lots of mosquitoes out. Worked well. Smells a little funny (i.e. not a fragrance).

QUESTION: SHOULD THIS BE USED ON THE FACE?
• I use this once or twice on my face. I found that I really didn't need to use it on my face since the bugs did not bother it. I sprayed it on my hands then applied it.
• Sorry i cannot be of help as i purchased this for my dog.
• There's a great website on DEET you should Google, but best thing is spray into your hand to apply to face. A little goes a long way.
• That's most likely isn't a good idea. Will irritate if it comes in contact with your eyes.
#Repel_94101

QUESTION: CAN I USE THIS ON FACE?
• I don't like to use the spray on the face. I used the DEETS wipes for any exposed skin. I used the spray on my clothing and that was enough yo keep the mosquitoes away--- didn't spray it on my skin.
• The bottle states that it can be use on face just don't apply it directly, you spray it on your hands and then rub it on your face avoiding eye contact or anywhere very near the eyes. I used it a couple of times on face with no problems at all but remember every skin is different so if you use it on face just try it first on a small area to make sure it doesn't harm you.
• There should be instructions on the container. Do not spray on the face! You do not want to inhale it nor get it in your eyes. I spray it on my hand and carefully pat it on my face.
• This stuff is great, we use on our face but am careful around the eyes
• The directions dont appear to preclude using this on your face. But, it does indicate not to spray it directly at your face. "If used on face, spray on your hands first and then apply sparingly to the face" Follow the directions on the bottle.

QUESTION: HAS ANYONE USED THIS FOR RUNNING TRAILS? HOW DOES IT HOLD UP?
• I have not used while running, but I have gone on some long hikes (5 hours) and it lasted the whole way.
• I do not run, but I work in the heat and sweat a lot. I spray it on my clothes. Bugs to not bother me.
• I was in the Jungles of Peru recently and I used this. I was sweating my ass off there and it held up pretty damn good, so good that almost everyone I was with used it too.

QUESTION: IS THIS MADE TO SPRAY CLOTHING?
• It can be used on skin and clothing per the label on the back.
• Yes. In fact it is recommended that you spray on clothing as well.
• You can spray clothing, but not so good for it. Better to spray you (it works for about 5 hrs of hot work, gardening, hiking etc), then wipe off or shower.
• Sorry for the late reply, Muddy - your message some how ended up in my spam folder and I didn't see it until now. Yes - the the insect spray can be used on clothing. Just be sure to wash it off your skin when you come back indoors. We used it on a few trips this year, including a three-week vacation in Alaska - it did a great job with the mosquitos!
• No it is a poor choice for that due to the narrow, large particle spray produced and that Deet is somewhat oily and bad for some synthetic materials. A better clothing spray would have Permethrin as the active ingredient instead of Deet and be either an aerosol or large trigger style pump container. Plus, Deet washes out right away so no protection after clothing is washed, making it less economical in the long term.

QUESTION: WILL IT REPEL TICKS?
• according to the label it will repel all insects. I do have to say this is the best mosquito repellant I have ever used.
• DEET is your best protection against ticks available. I've had Lyme disease, so I take ticks seriously. I used to worry that DEET was not safe until I read the Popular Science article ("the science answers: YES") , check it out here: http://www.popsci.com/article/science/deet-safe-use

QUESTION: HOW LONG WILL A BOTTLE LAST IF 3 PEOPLE ARE USING IT DAILY?
• It is a spray bottle, so you have more control than with an aerosol. I didn't use it every day while on my cruise, but I figure it would probably last a few weeks or more. That is, unless of course, you are doing multiple applications a day.
• Not long, especially if you're in a place like the Philippines. it works great, if you use it about 2-3 times a day. Better to wear long sleeve and long pants, hard to do in that climate. If there is something stronger I don't know what it is but I would try it.
• Depends on how many times a day you plan on using it. It should last about a week if only using once a day per person.
• I guess that would depend on a few factors. how often is "daily? once, twice... 5 times? What is the surface area of these people? Are you wearing any clothes? what is the density of the insect population.. The product works very well and the application rate is similar to other products. Compare it to your own history if you have used insect repellents in the past.

QUESTION: HAVE ANY OF YOU USED THIS FOR TRAIL RUNNING? HOW DOES IT HOLD UP?
• My wife and I used it in the jungle's of Guatemala but we weren't running. We didn't get a bite. Read the directions carefully.
• Didn't use it for trail running, but have used it in the Caribbean walking where we have a concern about the chikungunya virus. I have to say, it is probably one of the best repellents we have found/used. Don't get bothered or bit at all.

QUESTION: L HAVE READ THAT THE 90%+ DEET IS VERY OILY, REALLY NOT NICE STUFF AND MAY STAIN CLOTHING, IS THIS 40% FREE OF THESE PROBLEMS?
• I've not seen that, but even 100% Seems to dry. No clothing issues with 40, but I usually limit my application directly to skin.
• This did not feel oily at all. I did not have any issue with staining my clothes. I did not spray a lot on my clothes but no stains.
• I find Repel Sportsmens 40% only very slightly oily and not at all unpleasant around face, ears and neck. It washes off with ordinary water or sweat readily and must be reapplied. Nevertheless, Repel is not as effective as in the past. A few insects will actually land momentarily (but no bites), the rest buzzing around annoyingly close to the face.
• Sorry, I bought this to clean my car headlight covers. It didn't work.
• I've not used it directly on my clothes however, there seemed to be no transfer from my skin to my clothes. It is slightly oily but not enough to bother me. It doesn't feel oily as much as it leaves a sheen. It works great.

QUESTION: IS THIS ONE BOTTLE OR SEVERAL BOTTLES BECAUSE ITS SAYS CASE PACK OF 1
• One bottle only.
• It is only one bottle and it works great.......I live in Fla and should have purchased two bottles since everyone uses mine!!
• 1 bottle but it will last you a while for sure.
• 6
• Hi Michael, I think it was just one. We ordered several so I'm not 100% certain.
• It is one bottle

QUESTION: DOES THIS SPRAY HAVE A STRONG ODOR OF REPELLENT AND DOES IT LEAVE YOUR SKIN FEELING STICKY?
• We used this spray in Africa because it did not have a strong odor. I don't remember it being very sticky either.
• No on both counts
• It smells when you first spray it but the odor does not last. My skin did not feel sticky. I used in Uganda and it worked great.
• I used this in the rain forest of Costa Rica. It dies not have a strong odor nor does it leave your skin feeling sticky. It worked great. Not one bite!
• The spray has little odor and is not pasty on the skin - A thin spary over exposed areas does the trick. We recently used this on a trip to South America to avoid skeeters - worked a charm applying once in the AM and once at night.
• This stuff is great for repelling ticks and no strong odor, as for feeling sticky, not that I have noticed. I give it an A+
• It does have a fairly strong odor - better than 100, but still strong. It leaves skin feeling dry or very slightly oily if anything - not sticky at all.

QUESTION: IS IT SAFE TO USE IN COMBINATION WITH SUNSCREEN?
• Absolutely!, for real clear hot days, we use the extra spf on first, then top off with deet. Spraying clothes down before dressing is easiest.
• Yep! Always put on sunscreen first and then apply the deet second.
• I had layers of sun screen on with the repellant. Nothing tragic happened ;)

QUESTION: CAN IT BE USED FOR KIDS AS WELL? (AGE 2+)
• The bottle says just don't let the children put it on their hands or spray their face which makes sense.
• I use it on the clothing, not directly on skin. Around and on sneakers and cuffs of pants are good for those little feet. On there hats too if they are not teething. Just make sure it doesn't get into their mouths and it should be okay. I've always used this or something like it on my kids and never seemed to bother them AND it keeps the ticks off.
• best to ask your child's health care provider due to some children/people having allergies on a healthy child allergy free as long as not in eyes nose or mouth i would say yes but only if you can assure yourself they won't touch or lick it off or touch and transmit to eyes cause there are chemicals and poisons and warning labels and directions so read all products and instructions at all times on all things and when in doubt leave out

QUESTION: CAN THIS CLEAN CAR HEADLIGHT
• Yes, amazingly well..spray on leave 2 minutes or so and wipe off with a clean cloth. cleaned my headlights and a friends jeep that was much worse. It did drop his jaw with a, "no way!" might need to do it a second time if it's really bad but it works.
• i don't think it can because it insect repellent

QUESTION: AN ANSWER DATED 4/2015 POSTED ON THE EXPIRATION DATE SHOWS AND EXPIRATION DATE OF 2010. ARE THESE BOTTLES OUTDATED?
• I would think so. It has an expectation date for a reason. Probably over time the liquid weakens. Go with the old saying"when in doubt, throw out."
• The manufacturer's last date is the date on which they feel 100% certain that the stuff is 100% effective. I seriously doubt that one day later it becomes totally ineffective; more likely it just may start losing potency. If it looks/feels/smells off, discard it. If you are extremely sensitive to sunlight, discard it. Otherwise, you may still expect some protection from it. As the other responder stated, "when in doubt, throw out".
• They worked in the Philippines, if you put it on two - three times a day..Mosquitos love me, but this helped..just have to remember to keep putting it on..I honestly did not check dates.

QUESTION: DOES THIS HAVE ENOUGH ODOR TO PREVENT IT'S USE WHILE BOW HUNTING?
• This does not have much of an odor at all. I never smelled anything actually.
• I don't think so.
• Yes it would not be good for bow hunting due ti it's strong odor.
• No, I only smell it when I spray it, the odor goes away minutes after.
#Repel_94101

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE WORKING LIFE OF THE CONTENT OF A BOTTLE?
• Some really powerful repellent. I jog for one (1) hour several days a week and all other sprays were a joke and mosquitoes seemed to laugh at it. I work in my garden for several hours (sometimes all day) and no bug will hit me even with one application. Randall
• I ordered mine (six bottles) early last year and it still seems to work well. I keep one bottle in the non-climate-controlled building outside and the others inside the house. The one I am using now (stored outside) still seems to work well.
• Both my wife and I used it every day for about 1 1/2 months. It was very effective.
#6-Ounce_Sportsmen_Max

QUESTION: CAN I USE IT INDOOR?
• I am not sure what you mean by using it indoors. It is to be applied to the body to prevent being bitten by bugs
• It is sprayed on the body to prevent bites. You can wear it indoors.

QUESTION: DOES THIS REPEL MAX IS BED BUG KILLER AND REPELLENT?.
• This doesn't work for bed bugs.
• Just a repellant
• Mostly anything can directly kill bed bugs, I cannot guarantee that it will repel bed bugs permanently.
• it's for outdoor use. I imagine it would kill bed bugs but I don't think you want this on your skin while you're in bed. This is a spray on - as in, spray on yourself. it's a nice compromise between the super strong sprays which can burn the skin, and the less potent sprays which don't work. I got it to combat fleas in the house. sprayed it on my ankles while wearing white socks - fleas were gone in three days.

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE EXPIRATION DATE ON THE BOTTLE?
• I can't find one. Where would it be?
• LOOKS LIKE 2010
#Repel_94101

QUESTION: WHAT IS THE EXPIRATION/MANUFACTURING DATE ON THESE?
• I checked the bottle. No expiration date noticed. There is, however a "date" - 21-0811. As this product is not consumed, maybe there is no requirement for an expiration date. Hope this helps.
• Copyright # is 2010, so it wouldn't have been made before then. The only other number -- date? -- is 21-08-11. The product seems to work well, lasts for about 4-5 hrs even if it has "expired."
• I looked everywhere on the bottle and could find none listed. Sorry about that!
• There is no expiration/manufacturing date on the bottle.

QUESTION: CAN WE JUST SPRAY IT ON SKIN
• Yes
• Yes

• Yes
• No

QUESTION: IS THIS SAFE FOR TODDLERS?
• No!
• Don't ask anyone but your pediatrician.
• I used it to clean the oxidation off of my headlights. I would put no product that is absorded into the skin on my child. It has insecticide in it. keep your child out of area's with mosquito's, much safer.
• It's too dangerous a product as it has 40% deet. I don't even use it on my skin. I primarily use it on clothing if I'm going to a buggy area. I spray clothing and hat and let it dry overnight. I would call their #1-888-880-1181 cause they do have a poison control warning. em greenwood
