QUESTION: IS THIS STRONG ENOUGH TO HANG, SAY, 5 POUNDS OF FOOD WHILE CAMPING?
• Without a doubt.
• Yes. I have used them on my boots as a shoe string for over a year and they are still holding. With everyday use. Very durable!
• Yes. I don't know the tensile strength or breaking strength but you can hang at least 50 pounds of food to keep it away from bears.
• Yes. Standard 550 paracord will handle more than 500 pounds if it's truly mil-spec and at least 300 pounds if commercial grade. Be careful though. The stuff that's used to wrap knife handles and such is usually of a lessor strength. The packaging shod indicate the maximum load capability.
• Yes i use it to hold more then that on a daily basis
• Standard paracord is rated at 550 pounds. While a 5-lb load should present no problem you should consider what you are pulling the 5-lb load over. While not fragile the jacket of paracord can be snagged on things like tree branches. Have a great hike!
• While I've never hung 5lbs of food with the para cord, I believe it is more than up to the task, just be sure of your knot tying abilities.
• Absolutely
• I use paracord to hang my backpack (about 40 pounds) in the trees. It don't even come close to breaking the cord. The paracord is not only very strong but it's easy to tie knots with. We use it with the Boy Scouts for all of our knot tying projects. It also holds up very well when it gets wet or cold. For the size of paracord it is extremely strong and fits in a backpack or with your camping supplies while taking up very little space.

QUESTION: IF I WERE TO NAIL A LENGTH OF THIS BETWEEN TWO TREES, WOULD IT TRIP SOMEONE?
• The paracord has the strength to trip someone with breaking. My concern would be that the nails would come out of the tree. The better tactic would be to tie the paracord to the tree if possible. Also consider the area of application and choose the appropriate color. Happy hunting!
• Yes, it would do a lot more than trip Someone, would work better if u tied it though because the nail could weaken the ends
• Yes it would
• If they're blind, and totally unaware of their surroundings

QUESTION: WOULD YOU MIND POSTING WHAT SPEC THIS "MIL SPEC COMMERCIAL PARACORD" MEETS?
• This is weasel-wording on the part of ParaCord Planet...there is no official designation of "Mil Spec Commercial." True MIL-C-5040H paracord would have a colored load-bearing core strand, a colored marker strand signifying the MIL-C-5040H manufacturer...an accountability marker. Guaranteed, ParaCord Planet would not be able to produce a MIL-C-5040H factory certificate of conformance for military grade 550 cord without the marker. Amazon should bust their chops for misleading advertising. I'm a frequent ParaCord Planet customer but I don't condone this practice of charging mil spec prices for materials which don't meet the MIL-C-5040H requirement. Commercial customers who actually need MIL-C-5040H cord can easily find Amazon resellers who sell the real McCoy.
• I would rate this as a Type II Paracord. Type 2 is a 4-7 strand with 400lb rating. These inner cords are slightly lower grade then true 550 Type III but still has 7 inner strands. Hope this helps to answer your question.
• Mil Spec C, 7 strand

QUESTION: CAN THIS BE USED FOR HANGING A CAMPING HAMMOCK?
• nope! not if u weight 260 like me. unless i triple the cordage. so dunno why they call it 550 cord!!
• This is the sole reason why I bought this stuff. Works great but be warned that it stretches. You have to adjust it about 3 times before it will become taught. I use this with my hammock all the time because it's lightweight and packs small. It's held both my brother and myself in the hammock on the side of a cliff in an emergency situation (around #400 total) and I was never worried.

QUESTION: THE 50 FEET COMES IN ONE GROUP OR 5 GROUPS OF 10 FEET?
• I think it'll be one at 50 feet.
• It depends on what you ordered, unless it states that it will come in sections of 5 10ft cords then you will get one 50ft long paranoid, which is more than likely what you will get. I do also recommend purchasing one other thing that will keep you from pulling your hair out. That is buying the "Paracord Spool Tool". Not only will it hold up to 100ft of cord, but it also has a safety cutting blade that can be replaced when needed and it also has a holder for a mini bic lighter as well, this way you can seal the ends that was just cut so they will not split or fray as you use the Paracord. I personally have 3 100ft Paracord sets and 3 spool tools for each. 1 for me and the other two are for my children for my G.O.D. bag. Plus a few other items that I picked up. If you would like a few tips or have any questions my email is "blackthunder021@gmail.com" and btw my name is C,C, and maybe we can trade ideas as well.
• One cord 50 feet long
• One group of 50 feet

QUESTION: SHOULD I GET 100FT OR SOME 10 AND SOME 25 FT? I FEEL LIKE MULTIPLE SHORTER CHUNKS IS BETTER FOR TYING THINGS UP WITHOUT CAUSING FRAYING? :)
• The longer the better. My 100ft was more like 105ft. If you heat seal it, it shouldn't fray. You can do something as heating it with a lighter.
• I didn't have any trouble with the cords fraying. I would go for the 100ft.
• If u cut it use a lighter to melt the ends just a bit to avoid fraying.
• yes I have multiple sizes in my bug out bag

QUESTION: HOW EASY IS IT ON THE HANDS? THINKING OF USING THIS TO WRAP A HOMEMADE LIGHTSABER HANDLE AND WANT TO KNOW IF IT'LL BE TOO ROUGH.
• I don't know about light saber handles, but I did wrap a knife and in the is paracord that I use for outdoor activities. It is not rough on the hand but depending activity, you could maybe get some hot spots if you do a lot of heavy chopping. Not sure what activities you are going to do with light saber.
• People use it to make handles for knives and things like that so i think it would be fine. Has a softer feeling to it since it has a small diameter. It is not like twine or hemp or anything like that.
• I don't believe it to be rough on the hands at all. I've wrapped large flashlights, grips on my motorcycle, etc. and haven't had an issue. I would recommend that if you are going to wrap a smooth handle, first wrap with tape (I use the "spongy" type medical tape) then wrap it with your paracord. This will prevent the paracord from slipping.
• Only a Sith Lord would want this on their light sabers.

QUESTION: HOW LONG IS IT?
• 50 feet
• I purchased the Paracord Planet Mil-Spec Commercial Grade 550lb Type III Nylon Paracord 100 feet Tan. Sold by: Built For Survival. When it arrived it was 102 feet long. Paracord Planet sells 10, 25, 50, and 100 ft
• Whatever length you order.
• It depends on how much you get. Say if you order a 25 foot bundle, you're going to get EXACTLY what you ordered.
• You can order the para cord in the length you need. I ordered a 100 ft piece.
• 100'

QUESTION: I NEED SOMETHING TO HOLD A WHISTLE. WILL THIS CORD WORK?
• absolutely, I am using it to hold two full grown german shepherds to a moving bicycle in squirrel heaven, it will hold a whistle. Do make sure the hole you want to thread the cord through is big enough of course.
• the paracord 550 is probably too big so you could try paracord 325 or 95.
• By all means! This is not a regular type rope. This is a nylon weave covering 7 strans of nylon cords. The 550 type III is a military spec. rating of 550 pounds of weight. You have absolutely no fear of it NOT holding a whistle! BTW; It will only last forever! :-)
• This would be fine for a standard whistle that would go around your neck. ..maybe even more than enough. Also, it would depend on how thick of a hole you have to pass this through...I'd say 1/4" or more would be needed.
• Yes it will definitely work
• Wait, wait! How heavy is the whistle? If it's more than 550lbs, this cord may not work...

QUESTION: IS THIS ELASTIC?
• No its not elastic but it isn't the best cordage out there either. If you want good stuff pay a little more for it and buy the right stuff.
• It will stretch a little but it is not elastic.
• No it isn't
• Most paracord and rope has some stretch. I've been well pleased with the green cord I got. It's tough and pretty strong. Not too elastic either.
• It does stretch but I would not say that it is elastic.

QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE A GOOD ROPE FOR A SUBMERSIBLE WATER PUMP AT SAY 80 FEET?
• In my opinion, I would use a stronger line more suitable for that use. There will be a lot of vibration on a pump. This line would hold the weight, but a boating store would have better nylon line for that use. Don't use polypropylene line as that line floats.
• I know it is really strong. Suppose to hold up to 500 lbs. It's not a rope though so it's not thick, about as thick as a shoelace but stronger. Hope that helps a little.
• I'm not a paracord engineer, but I suspect it would not do the job you seem to want it to do. Paracord is made of Nylon, and nylon will get slippery when wet. It can also stretch when wet. That may allow the cord to become loose enough to let go of your pump. The cord itself will dry out when removed from the water, and it will not mildew, but who knows where your pump will be.
#Mil-Spec_Commercial_Grade

QUESTION: CAN I USE THIS ROPE FOR RAPPLING WHEN I AM 150 KGS?
• As a Rope Rescue Tech, I would only use this for dire emergencies ONLY. This paracord is only 4mm in diameter and would cut into leather gloves. I would highly recommend a dynamic rope and make sure it's between 8-10mm thick.
• Yes it's good for up to 550 lbs
#Paracord_Planet_Review

QUESTION: WOULD THIS BE GOOD FOR SETTING UP A DOG RUN FOR MY BACKYARD AND DOG THAT WANTS OUT EVERY 10 MINUTES?
• I'm not sure what you mean by setting up a dog run. But the cord is strong enough to use as a leash or any other contraption that requires strength.
• Only for a small dog. I wouldn't trust it for a dog over, say, 30 pounds. I would just go to Pet Smart or Wal Mart and buy one of the dog run cables they have. Plastic coated wire with connectors on each end. We have Invisible Fence for our dog and it works great. I was skeptical about it at first, but, after a couple of shocks he will not go near the fence boundry. He did chase a racoon over the boundry once. Learned his lesson!
#Paracord_Planet_Mil-Spec_Commercial_Grade

QUESTION: WOULD YOU TRUST USING THIS FOR CLIMBING?
• No buy some climbing rope
• No! Absolutely not. This is not strong enough for climbing. If you try it, you may end up dead, because paracord is not abrasion resistant. It can be cut by any rough surface when a load is applyed. The heavier the load, the greater the risk.
#Paracord_Planet

QUESTION: ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH SEALING/MELTING THE ENDS? SEEMS OTHER BRANDS HAVE FRAYING ISSUE WHERE STRANDS WON'T MELT TOGETHER EASILY.
• Well, I haven't had any problems with the melt so far. I use a lighter, take my time and cool with a knife blade. So far, so good.
• Have not had problem melting ends beyond an occasional burn from the ends on my hands. You can flatten out the ends with a carefully placed napkin and pull thru while hot.
• No. I've cut this paracord into several smaller strands, and melted the ends with a Bic lighter. The ends have always turned out well.
#Mil-Spec_Commercial_Grade

QUESTION: THE 50 FEET COMES IN ONE GROUP OR 5 GROUPS OF 10?
• 1-50' strand.
• 1 piece of 50 foot rope. You can always make it 5 pieces of 10 ft if you like :-)
• One, 50 ft strand.
• One group.
#Paracord_Planet_Review

QUESTION: CAN IT BE USED FOR PSU WIRE SLEEVING
• I have no idea what PSU wire sleeving is.but if you can do it with paracord you can do it with this very high quality great stuff
• No. This paracord is used only for out doors. The ones you are looking for are more heat resistant and are for special use such as computer, audio, auto electrical wires. So to answer your question, I wouldn't use it. Check this site out. Hope this will help. http://www.frozencpu.com/cat/l3/g35/c493/s1496/list/p1/SleevingHeatshrink-ModSmart_-_High_Density_Kobra-HD_Sleeving_Kits-Page1.html
